RADIATION PROOF SLIDING DOORS
When the human body is exposed to radiation rays it alters the everyday bodily functions. These rays cause harm on almost every part of our body including hair, brain, thyroid, blood system, heart, reproductive tract and many more. In hospitals there are rooms like radio therapy rooms and x-ray rooms which emit radiation rays, in order to protect both hospital employees and patients from unnecessary harmful rays Radiation proof sliding doors are designed with lead shielding.

DESCRIPTION
Rail construction:
Heavy duty rail construction, suited for a load up to 2500 kg door blade weight. Made of:
  *Steel section 200x100x10 to be fitted to the wall
  *Steel track 40 x 40 mm, on a steel strip placed under 45º with
     regard to the floor and the wall
  *All steel parts made of hot-dipped galvanized steel

The in line with the door blade is a canopy in RAL9010 colour which covers the steel top rollers

Options available is a full canopy over the full lengths of the rail construction
Door leaf suited for lead inserts with a total thickness of 10, 11 or 14 mm.

CONSTRUCTION:
Layers of water boiling proof plywood, in between a number of lead sheets each 2 or 3 mms thick

The door leaf on both sides finished with hard plastic laminate in a plane colour out of the actual collection of Formica or equal manufacturer

The door edges finished with 2 mm thick U-shape stainless steel section

At the bottom of the door blade on the non-rail side a stainless steel plinth approx. 80 mms high is placed to protect it from damaging

On the rail side of the door blade, at the bottom, a stainless steel guiding profile is placed in front of the door leaf over the total door width, including a U-section and a 45º sloping cover as bottom guide. Bottom guiders inside the U-channel are made of heavy duty nylon

Overlap of the door leaf on the frame is 100 mm on each

The door leaf to be provided with a strip of intumescing material

Thickness of the door leaf is 155 mm.

Heavy suspension brackets, each with 2 steel - sealed for life - roller bearings. These bearings to be placed under an angle of 90º in regarding t oeach other and under 45º in regarding to the wall and the floor

A plate is placed over the full door width, to cover these suspension brackets

The total weight of the door blade depends on the lead lining and is upon request

WALL FRAME:
Stainless steel corner profile, 1.5 mm thick brushed finished, to be fitted to the edge of the wall opening. Wall cladding by others

In this frame the photo-electric safety equipment is to be installed

AUTOMATION:
Because of safety regulations in combination with the high door blade weight, a manually operated door is not available, only automatic

BENEFITS
The doors are equipped with single beam photo electric to incorporate in the frame on the edge of the wall opening

A safety edge is provided on the head of the door leaf

When a safety device is activated, the door stops and returns to open position
The door has to be connected to the emergency power equipment of the building as in case of emergency the door will open and remain open for people to leave the room

The door is specially constructed with lead shielding to protect both hospital employees and patients from unnecessary harmful rays

These are ideal for hospitals but can also be used in clinics and other scientific environments

These doors are well sealed which prevents cross contamination and thus helps in maintaining sterility

The disinfecting is quicker and safer as there is no place on the door blade for the germs to rest and breed upon.
