What is the maximum size of door in each model?

:MAK250: 2400 x 2600 mm high
: MAK400: 4000 x 4500 mm high
Overall maximum m2: see 250 and 400

What is the wall construction required for the door?
For doors upto 3 meter high in a 100 mm panel wall, the door is self supporting. above that height, a steel construnction UNP140 is required on the non-track side behind the vertical jambs and full length of rail and at the end of the sliding space down to support the UNP-down to the floor.

What is the typical lead-time on a MAK Chiller?
4 weeks after order and full specifications EX-Works ready.
What adds to the lead-time?
Non-standard colours, meatrail doors, orders of more then 10 doors.

What canopy and track options are available?
Canopy in stainless, RAL9010, RAL9006, more RAL-colours.

Is an SS track an option?
No.

What are the standard and readily available colours?
RAL9006, RAL9010, RAL9002, stainless steel B2 and circle brushed.

What other colours are available?
Standard colours from BS which they have in stock, so we can buy the sheets and make the doors. This has an overprice upon request.

Do non-standard colours add to lead-time or cost?
Yes, extra time is 1 week, costs are upon request.

What surface finish options are available?
 Stainless steel B2, brushed, circle brushed.
Standard RAL9002, 9010, 9006. colours in RAL upon availability.

Can the doors be fire-rated?
We have 60 min. certificate on the MF7 Polaris chiller and freezer.

What level of fire rating is possible?
It is 90 minutes, but the certificate indicates 60 min.

To what standard has the door been tested?
Dutch norm NEN6069:2001 and EN1634-1: 2001.

Are they tested to EN1634?
See above.

What happens to the doors in a fire situation?
The door closes and seals off the opening, by means of its selfclosing system that is activated by a melt fuse.

 

What kind of fumes do the doors give off?
The door is smoke-tight, but what gasses the door produces is not known by me.

What is the surface spread of flame rate?

What kind of smoke do the doors emit when burned?

Does the door melt?
The aluminium rail will melt, but the door will stay in place by its labyrinth system.

What automation options are available?
Pull cords, push buttons, radar, remote control, interlock by means of interruption of the switches, safety edge.

 

What are points to take care/ watch out for?
Door over 200KG weight must have a safety edge, which has an overprice.

Does the door have a safety edge?   If not, please explain why?

What is the insulation value of the door?
This depents on the thickness of the doorblade panel. The R-value;
An 80 mm panel has an insul value of 3,2 m2 K/W
A 100 mm panel has an insul value of 4,0 m2 K/W
A 150 mm panel has an insul value of 4,8 m2 K/W

What is the construction of the door?
Stainelss steel surrounding, PU-doorblade panels, aluminium rial construction with canopy over full length. Frame is standard mounting frame or stainless steel panel surrounded frame.

What materials is the core made from?
Doorblade core made HCFC free PU.

Is it CFC and HCFC free?
See above.

What materials is the surface made from?
Stainless steel no304 in circle brushed finish or galvanized coated steelplate in a standard RAL colour.

What material is the seal made from?
Rubber gasket EPDM material.

What motor types are available?
MAK250 with 90 watt motor.
MAK400 with 370 watt motor.
Controller can be place in a nylon switchbox or in a stainless steel one.

When should each be used?
Small sizes use the MAK250, bigger, freezer and fire doors = MAK400.

Are the doors tested to any standard in any country apart from fire tests in Netherlands? E.g. a TUV /CE marked etc
Door automations are CE-marked.

What extreme client performance requirements have the doors complied with and what are the extreme examples of durability and service. Give a detailed example and the site/customer when it was installed?

What is the acoustic rating of the door?
We have not measured this, so I cannot answer it.

What vision panel options are available ?
Ø270 mm and 600 x 400 mm high, insulated double glazed.

What’s the maximum vision panel size?
Upon request, bigger as a square or rectangular windows, not roud.

What’s the recommended vision panel size and location?
 See standard sizes.

How do heater coils work and where are they installed?
The heatertape works continiously at 30W-M1 frame size.
It is protected against overheating.

At what temperature are they required?
-0°C

What temperature environment options are available?
+70°C upto -40°C

What are the options for motor positions?
Behind the rail on top of the rail for MAK400 (on top has overprice for canopy).
Behind the rail for the MAK250 only.

What clearance is required for each motor position option?
Behind the rail is + 300 mm extra and on top of the rail is + 150 mm extra.

What is the standard ratio/ equation of track to door length to opening size?
Width x 2 + 275 mm for MAK250 manually operated.
Width x 2 + 500 mm for MAK400 manually operated.

What is the weight of the door per square metre?
MAK250:  ± 20 kgs
MAK400:  ± 25 kgs

What is the power of the door hitting you if you are standing in the opening?
Manually door is unlimited……
Automatic door is maximum 10 kgs for a door without a safety edge.
We do recommend to keep the closing speed low so we stay < 10 kgs.

How often does the door need servicing?
Metaflex recommends one per year for a frequent used door.

How often will the door break down?
See 26, the better serviced, the longer it lasts.

What’s the availability of parts and service?
Most wear and tear parts are in stock.

Looking at Competition, what is the advantage of our door over the key competitors:

COMPETITOR A:
Fermod: hardware supplier, deliveres old fasion rails, noisy running,
Does not supply complete doors.

 

COMPETITOR B
Cool-it: strong compatitor for MAK400, deliveres no assembly doors.
Has only flush chiller and freezer door, more sensitive for optical damages.
MAK250 could be possible to pass them.

 

 

COMPETITOR C:
Ehrenfels: cheap doors, low life time, flush doors. they use Metaflex SDA-04 automations.

 

 

COMPETITOR D:
MTH; deliveres like Metaflex. Kits, complete doors and rails for MAK250 equal prices, lower quality.

 

 

COMPETITOR E:
Roma/Isocab; strong international organisation in building complere ware houses. Lower quality, bad compatitor in Holland.

Can the doors be interlocked with other MAK Chillers’s or other doors?
Only by automatic doors, by means of interruption of the switches. It is more a descipline control.

What warranty is offered with the MAK Chiller?
After delivery EX-Works Metaflex Holland:

* constructive parts, like rails, suspension, frame and doorblade: 24 months.

* all moving parts, like handles, rollers, hinges and sealings: 12 months.

* all electric parts, like heatertapes and complete automation: 6 months.

Guarantee is excluded by:
Unprofessional use or abuse of the door in any way.

Poor or insufficient maintenance of the door.
